The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" latest roundup includes two Dutch beasts.

The "So What?": Over the weekend, the NPC Southern States Championships in Fort Lauderdale, FL, featured a slew of guest posers,  including: 2007 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships Winner and 2011 Arnold Classic Europe Winner IFBB Pro Victor Martinez, Ms. Figure Olympia IFBB Pro Erin Stern, Ms. Bikini Olympia IFBB Pro Nathalia Melo, IFBB Pro Lloyd Dollar, IFBB Pro Branden Ray, and IFBB Pro Manuel Romero. Winner of last week's Chicago Pro Championships (an IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series contest), Curacao-born IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar participated in a meet-and-greet, a seminar, and a guest-posing appearance at the NPC Louisiana State Bodybuilding Championships, which also honored 1964 Mr. America IFBB Pro Red Lirelle. IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi guest-posed at the Missouri State Bodybuilding Championships, where IFBB Pro Brian Yersky was also spotted.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: The industry learned of the recent passing of retired IFBB Pro Ed Van Amsterdam at the age of 40. The 6'2", 265-pound behemoth was known for his big grin and personable demeanor, which I can attest to after meeting the Dutch giant at the Olympia Weekend Expo in Las Vegas about 5 years ago. Edward Van Amsterdam competed as a professional bodybuilder for a decade (1999-2009). His best placing was a 7th place finish at the 2002 Holland Grand Prix.
