The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup includes a Mr. Olympia winner and two rising sensations with Mr. O-caliber physiques.

The "So What?": Over the weekend, 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler hosted his annual NPC Jay Cutler Baltimore Classic Bodybuilding Championships. Handling emcee duties was retired IFBB Pro Shawn Ray (1994 Olympia 2nd place runner-up to 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates, and winner of the Arnold Sports Festival's 1991 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships). Cutler (a 3-time Arnold Classic winner) was an impromptu guest-poser at his event in Maryland, where IFBB Pro Fred Smalls and Hall of Fame IFBB Pro Kevin Levrone (a 2-time Arnold Classic winner) were also spotted.

At the NPC New Jersey State Bodybuilding Championships, US Army Instructor and IFBB Pro Cedric McMillan (2012 New York Pro winner) and IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden (2012 winner of the Tampa Pro and Europa Dallas Pro) guest-posed, along with IFBB Pro Jose Raymond (2012 New York Pro 3rd place) and IFBB Pro Juan Morel (2012 Europa Hartford Pro winner) -- all current IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series circuit contenders.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: As I previously noted, Shawn Rhoden is the latest "athlete-to-watch" sensation that Cedric McMillan was a little more than a year ago. Both made splashes on the professional bodybuilding scene of the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness with "X-frame," classically proportioned physiques that some are saying (or hoping) will become the longstanding standard of future Sandow trophy and Mr. Olympia title winners -- relevant, given that next month's Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas is quickly approaching, and reigning Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath will be defending the title he wrestled away from Jay Cutler last year.
