The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes several events for amateur athletes who compete in the NPC (National Physique Committee) promoted by professional athletes who compete in the IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness).

The "So What?": Four-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler was the headlining guest at the NPC New England Bodybuilding Championships in Boston, in his home state of Massachusetts. The following athletes guest-posed at other NPC contests: IFBB Pro P.D. Devers at the NPC Border States Classic Bodybuilding Championships in San Diego, California. IFBB Pro Juan Morel at the NPC East Coast Bodybuilding Championships in New Jersey. Winner of the 2009 "World's Strongest Bodybuilder" Powerlifting Challenge, IFBB Pro Johnnie Jackson at an event in Florida.

In the world of pro-hosted events: Army Instructor and IFBB Pro Cedric McMillan and IFBB Pro Fred Smalls performed at IFBB Pro Richard "Tricky" Jackson's NPC Tricky Jackson Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Lexington, Kentucky. IFBB Pro Bill Wilmore took the stage at the NPC Maryland Grand Prix Championships, which was promoted by Hall of Fame IFBB Pro Shawn Ray in Baltimore. IFBB Pro Brandon Curry hosted the NPC Music City Muscle Bodybuilding Championships contest in Nashville, Tennessee, where IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson was also a special guest (Jackson recently finished in 4th place at the 2012 Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, where 2-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath retained his title).
Andrew Oye's Verdict: It's always good to see busy pro athletes make time for their fellow competitors. After hosting his own NPC Dexter Jackson Memphis Classic Championships last week, the 2008 Mr. Olympia and 3-time Arnold Classic Champion made time to support Brandon Curry's event in Tennessee. The 2008 Mr. USA, Curry (who earned his IFBB Pro card by winning the Heavyweight Class and Overall title at the 2008 NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships) competed at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2012 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships, placing 7th -- two spots behind Jackson -- at that IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series contest in March, which was won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren (a.k.a. "Quadrasaurus").
