The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Contest Preparation, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes a collection of East Coast bodybuilders with very different circumstances and plans for heading westward for the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding" in Las Vegas in a few weeks.

The "So What?": Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Victor Martinez guest-posed at the 2011 NPC Maryland State Bodybuilding Championships, which was emceed by 13-time Olympia contender and Hall of Fame IFBB Pro Shawn Ray. Meanwhile, IFBB Pro Craig Richardson, IFBB Pro Fred Smalls, IFBB Pro Evan Centopani, and IFBB Pro Guy Cisternino were guest posers at the 2011 NPC New Jersey State Bodybuilding Championships.

Three of the aforementioned athletes scored their first professional wins during the 2011 IFBB Pro contest season: Craig Richardson (Toronto Pro Championships), Evan Centopani (Flex Pro Championships) and Guy Cisternino (Dallas Pro Championships). All have qualified to compete at the 2011 Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend. As previously reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," Centopani will skip competing at the Mr. Olympia Championships to tend to his newborn. Richardson hits the Olympia for the fifth time in his career (as Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler attempts to collect his fifth Olympia Sandow trophy). Cisternino will make his first attempt at the Olympia 202 Showdown next month.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: A thick and massive Victor Martinez showed his progress three weeks away from the Olympia Fitness and Performance Weekend (September 16). Even though he is still trying to avenge his controversial 2nd place finish to Jay Cutler at the 2007 Olympia, some have said that Martinez's showing in Rockville, Maryland, is not on par with the pre-Olympia progress of IFBB Pro Phil Heath, the top contender to challenge Cutler for the title this year. At this point, Martinez might wonder how much longer his win at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2007 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships will remain his sole victory at one of the two most prestigious contests in the IFBB. (Martinez placed 3rd at the 2011 Arnold Classic, won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren.)
