The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, New IFBB Pro League Cards, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made
recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and
fitness events. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes
Roundup includes a cluster of competitive bodybuilders with Arnold
Classic titles on their resumes.
The "So What?": Over the weekend, at UFC Gym in Edgewater, New Jersey, IFBB Pro Victor
Martinez hosted the "Fit For Autism" awareness event and fundraiser,
where IFBB Pro Jon Delarosa was spotted. The event featured a day of
family activities, seminars, a fitness challenge, a special boxing
class, vendor giveaways, raffle prizes, guest appearances, food, music
and entertainment. The day before, Martinez conducted a Q&A session
and autograph signing at a sports-nutrition shop in Lodi, New Jersey.
[Sidebar: Delarosa and Martinez currently sit at the top of the IFBB Pro
Olympia Qualification Series leaderboard, with 16 and 9 points,
respectively, which ranks athletes aiming to challenge reigning 3-time
Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend.]
Elsewhere
in NJ, IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi guest-posed at the NPC Garden State
Bodybuilding Championships. Yamagishi competed in the inaugural 212
Division contest at the Arnold Classic USA in March, and he placed 4th
behind winner IFBB Pro Flex Lewis; meanwhile, Lewis, the 2-time Olympia 212
Showdown Champ, guest-posed at the NPC Muscle Mayhem Championships in
Kansas.
Retired IFBB Pro Dennis James hosted a seminar at the
Clasico Paisa de Fisicoculturismo, while IFBB Pro Juan Morel guest-posed
at the same event in Medellin, Colombia. IFBB Pro Brian Yersky took the
stage at the NPC Titan Open in Wisconsin. Two-time Arnold Classic
winner IFBB Pro K. Greene guested at the Amateur Olympia Europe in Prague, where new IFBB Pro Roman Fritz earned his IFBB Pro card.
Guest performers at the NPC Idaho Muscle Classic Bodybuilding
Championships included IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden (2012 Arnold Classic Europe
Champion) and IFBB Pro Tanji Johnson (2013 Arnold Classic Ms. Fitness
International and 2013 Arnold Classic Europe Fitness Champion).
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Kudos to Victor Martinez for his charitable work, which includes raising
awareness for Autism Speaks since 2007 and continues on his next stop in
Columbia, Maryland (June 29). "As a bodybuilder, so much time is spent
working every muscle in the body. We must not overlook the most
important one, our heart," says Martinez, the 2007 Arnold Classic USA and
2011 Arnold Classic Europe Champion. "My personal mission is to use my
professional status and influence to make an impact on the lives of
children affected by autism. I want to make a difference in the lives of
not only my children but all of the people that are not as fortunate to
have the physical ability that myself and other athletes have. Thank
you so much for your support."
