The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop:
Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" latest roundup includes the Arnold Classic champ, a Czechoslovakian champ, and a Greek champ.

The "So What?": This coming weekend (April 13), Slovakian IFBB Pro Jaroslav Horvath and veteran IFBB Pro Pavol Jablonicky, who resides in the Czech Republic, will make guest appearances at the SAKFST Slovak Bodybuilding Championships (Majstrovstva Slovenska) in Hnusta, Slovakia. Over the past weekend, 2012 IFBB Masters Mr. Olympia and 2013 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Champion IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson and veteran poser extraordinaire IFBB Pro Darrem Charles were featured guest posers at the NPC Jax Physique Bodybuilding Championships in Jacksonville, Florida. Jumping on stage at Steve Stone's NPC New York Metropolitan Championships: IFBB Pro Juan Morel, IFBB Pro Jon Delarosa, IFBB Pro Marco Rivera and IFBB Pro Anthoneil Champagnie. Last month at the Arnold Sports Festival, Jackson and Charles battled IFBB Pro Michael Kefalianos, whose next competition is the FIBO Power in Germany (April 11-14) followed by the inaugural Arnold Classic Brasil in Rio (April 26-27), which means he will have competed in every 2013 IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series pro show, thus far (including the Australian Pro Grand Prix).

Andrew Oye's Verdict:
I was surprised to hear no fear of burnout for an athlete who competes non-stop. In an interview this week, David Balasas (1995 NPC Mr. Los Angeles Champion), who has coached Michael Kefalianos (who resides in Australia) through about 25 IFBB pro contests and to his distinction as the first Greek bodybuilder to compete at the prestigious Mr. Olympia Championships in 2009, says, "Mike's got the charisma and he fights. He never complains. He wants to compete. He's a fighter. He likes to be up there with the best."

On the other hand, it's always great to see the elders -- like Pavol Jablonicky, one of my favorites -- staying active on the scene. Known for the incredible physique he brought to the stage throughout the 1990s while competing at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend four times, Jablonicky maintains his physical fitness at the ripe age of 50 years old. He placed 9th at the 2011 !FBB Masters Pro World Championships (won by Dexter Jackson).
