The Item: Career Updates, Contest Preparation, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro Roland Cziurlok may return to the competitive bodybuilding stage at the 2011 IFBB Pro World Masters Bodybuilding Championships, an invitational contest scheduled for December 10, 2011, in Miami, Florida. Cziurlok (sometimes spelled Cziurlock) says he has resumed a regular training schedule in preparation for this possible comeback.

The "So What?": Born in Poland and residing in Germany, Roland Cziurlok was the World Amateur Championships Light-Heavyweight winner in 1993 (when IFBB Pro Gunter Schlierkamp won the Heavyweight Class). As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," his last appearances on a pro stage were in 2001 at the IFBB Toronto Pro (won by IFBB Pro Orville Burke) and the IFBB Night of Champions (now known as the IFBB New York Pro Bodybuilding Championships, won this year by IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar). Known for possessing impressive lats and gnarly muscular detail and conditioning, Cziurlok wowed crowds with an eye-popping Most Muscular pose and shocked them when he didn't place higher at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend 1994 Mr. Olympia Championships (18th place) or the 1996 Olympia contest (12th place), which were both won by 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates. (IFBB Pro Jay Cutler won his fourth Mr. Olympia title and Sandow trophy this year.)

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Here's hoping that, if the tentative World Masters contest occurs next December and Roland Cziurlok actually competes, he revives the cool "cyborg" look he rocked during his heyday in the 90's. Cziurlok also competed at the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships in 1996, won by IFBB Pro Kevin Levrone, and in 1998, won by IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler. Though highly unlikely, some fans hope Levrone and Wheeler might join Cziurlok on stage at the IFBB Pro World Masters Bodybuilding Championships. Reports state IFBB Pro league athletes who will be involved in some capacity, as either as competitors or guests: 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman,1983 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Samir Bannout, 2008 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, IFBB Pro Tony Pearson, IFBB Pro Bob Cicherillo and IFBB Pro Francis Benfatto.
