The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Contest Preparation, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: I caught up with IFBB Pro Marius Dohne and he informed me that he will be one of the featured guest-posers at the NPC Charlotte Cup Bodybuilding & Figure Championships in Charlotte, NC, on Saturday (April 24). But first, Dohne makes a pit stop this week at the IFBB Arthur Baron Classic Bodybuilding Championships in South Africa before trekking to the U.S.

The "So What?": The Charlotte Cup is hosted by Lee Promotions' Greg Lee, who manages Marius Dohne and a stable of other bodybuilders (including IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski, IFBB Pro Fouad Abiad and IFBB Pro Toney Freeman). "Marius will be staying within the Carolinas area until May 3rd," says Lee. "He is available for guest appearances, posing, etc. We are currently seeking sponsorships for Marius." As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro Muscle Report," the rookie earned his IFBB Pro card last year, winning the Super-Heavyweight Class at the IFBB South African National Bodybuilding Championships. Dohne is training in preparation to make his U.S. professional bodybuilding debut at the IFBB New York Pro Bodybuilding Championships (May 8), where he'll face IFBB Pro League athletes like IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi, IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf and IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: At 5'11" and 250 lbs., Marius Dohne has been gaining some buzz due to his incredibly symmetrical physique and his status as the only actively competitive IFBB Pro who hails from and still resides in South Africa (following in the footsteps of U.S.-based, retired IFBB Pro Gary Strydom -- former champion of WWE's Vince McMahon's WBF World Bodybuilding Federation, where Hall of Famer IFBB Pro Tom Platz was Talent Director). [On a side note, South African rookie IFBB Pro Hennie Kotze also earned his pro card last year but has yet to make his pro debut.]

The 2008 NABBA World Champion is excited for his pro debut. "Its' on now, baby!" says Dohne. "My mindset is coming on very strong and I can feel the confidence coming through. I'm super hard from the changes I've made, so things are looking up. Time to represent!" The "Sultan of Symmetry" has great shape and potential. If he continues to distinguish and improve himself, he may make an impact on the pro scene and achieve hopes of climbing the ranks to compete at big events like the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Championships and Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend (where IFBB Pro Jay Cutler currently reigns).
