The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: After an autograph-signing appearance at the World Fighting Championships' MMA WFC Fight Night at the Denver Coliseum over the weekend, IFBB Pro Andy Haman gave "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" the scoop on his career. Next up, guest-posing stops at the NPC Southern Colorado Championships (May 10th) and the Carla Sanchez Fitness Fiesta (Oct 15th). Prepping for a three-contest circuit , Haman plans to compete at the IFBB Houston Pro Bodybuilding Championships on July 4th. The spiky-haired beast will then celebrate his 42nd birthday onstage at the Europa on August 16th, followed by the Atlantic City Pro in September.

The "So What?":
Andy Haman earned his IFBB Pro card at the 2007 NPC Masters National Bodybuilding Championships, winning the Super-Heavyweight Class and the Overall title. The ever-energetic athlete tells me. "I enjoy my time in the gym more and more as I get older! Still strong with a 625-pound flat bench!" Unfortunately, Haman is still banging on a door closed by producers of the "American Gladiators" TV show.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Andy Haman is shocked, as am I, that his recent online campaign to drum-up support for his hilarious, electrifying character "Shock!" didn't get him a slot on "American Gladiators." But he declares, "'Shock!' is still alive! The Gladiators didn't pick me at the final callback; but, it was a great experience and the casting producer hopes to call in the future. He said no one has run a 40-yard dash at 275 lbs as fast as I did! I ran it in 4.8 seconds. They loved my character, but I think I was just too muscular and too hardcore for TV. Who knows? Maybe next time."

Maybe that time will be soon-- Andy Haman is one of few IFBB Pro League athletes (who is also a powerlifter with a collegiate wrestling background) with the charisma and physicality to entertain as he displays during his character-driven appearances at events like the Olympia Expo at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend and the Arnold Sports Festival (home of the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships).
