Career Updates, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup The Scoop:
Just Announced: IFBB Pro Bob Cicherillo has left his co-host seat next to Dan Solomon at Pro Bodybuilding Weekly, widely regarded as the granddaddy of bodybuilding talk radio shows. When PBW returns for its seventh season next week (January 24), Solomon welcomes two new co-hosts to the microphone -- an NPC Chairman/IFBB Pro League Judge, along with insight from a pro-trainer/contest-prep coach.
The PBW press announcement notes, "PBW will continue to deliver the latest IFBB/NPC news...straight from the source." The "So What?":
Bob Cicherillo vacates PBW after six seasons and more than 200 broadcasts. Some speculate that, as reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," Cicherillo signing on as a spokesman for a different sports-nutrition company than the show's main sponsor may have impacted the switch. According to a PBW news report: "A series of contractual changes in the life of Cicherillo have forced him to turn his attention to some new projects and some exciting new opportunities. Rest assured, Bob has big plans!" Andrew Oye's Verdict:
As the IFBB Pro League Athletes' Representative and a contest emcee that also moonlights as an actor, there's no doubt this career change will not silence Bob Cicherillo's voice in the industry. In addition to holding the microphone at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, the retired competitor is known for his long journey to an IFBB Pro card, which finally culminated with an Overall win at the 2000 NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships and led to stops at the IFBB Night of Champions New York Pro (2001-2003, 2005), the Arnold Sports Festival's 2004 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships, and his only victory at the 2006 Masters Pro World Championships (defeating IFBB Pro Johnny Stewart, IFBB Pro Pavol Jablonicky and IFBB Pro Claude Groulx).
