The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden was crowned the champion at the 2012 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Europe Bodybuilding Championships in Madrid, Spain. IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf was awarded with 2nd place. IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar finished in 3rd place. IFBB Pro Robert Piotrkowicz jumped to 4th place (from 7th place last year), while IFBB Pro Toney Freeman dropped to 5th place (from 4th place last year).

Some of the remaining field of physiques: "The Rock" IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel (6th), powerlifter IFBB Pro Johnnie Jackson (7th), IFBB Pro Michael Kefalianos (8th), IFBB Pro Ed Nunn (9th), IFBB Pro Feras Saied (10th), IFBB Pro Lionel Beyeke (11th), IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi (12th), IFBB Pro Daniele Seccarecci (14th), IFBB Pro Ben White (15th), IFBB Pro Sergey Shelestov (16th), and IFBB Pro Manuel Manchado (17th).

The "So What?":
As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 6 Points, 3rd - 5 Points, 4th - 4 Points, 5th - 3 Points) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend to face reigning Mr. Olympia Phil Heath next year. The Arnold Classic Europe is a Tier 2 contest, i.e., one of few to award more points per placing than Tier 3 and Tier 4 contests. Shawn Rhoden is the second Arnold Classic Europe champion. Due to injury, IFBB Pro Victor Martinez, winner of the debut ASC Europe, did not defend the title.

Spotted in Spain at the 2012 Arnold Sports Festival Fitness Expo: 2-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath, 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman, 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates, 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler, 2008 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, of course, 7-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger, and more.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: I predicted a strong showing for Shawn Rhoden at the recent Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, which yielded a 3rd place finish at the "Super Bowl of bodybuilding." If he maintains his streamlined waistline and impressive shape, "Flexatron" Rhoden has the type of physique that should dominate many future top-tier contests. For now, he stands at the beginning of what will become an impressive list of Arnold Classic Europe winners to stand alongside the roster of Arnold Classic USA winners (which includes IFBB Pro Rich Gaspari, IFBB Pro Mike Ashley, IFBB Pro Shawn Ray, IFBB Pro Vince Taylor, IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler, IFBB Pro Kevin Levrone, IFBB Pro Mike Francois, IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman, IFBB Pro Jay Cutler, IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, IFBB Pro Victor Martinez, and "Quadrasaurus" IFBB Pro Branch Warren.)
