The Item: Pro Wrestling, Entertainment News, Andrew Oye's WWE Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: In the latest edition of MUSCLE INK Magazine, in a feature titled "Headlock on Hollywood: Pro Wrestlers Fight for Fame in Films," Andrew Oye examines the acting ambitions of professional wrestlers like mega-star "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson, 1996 Olympic Wrestling Gold Medal Winner Kurt Angle, wrestler-turned-MMA fighter Dave Bautista ("Batista"), former competitive bodybuilder John Cena, former NFL Pro football player Bill Goldberg, and TV host "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

The "So What?": "Headlock on Hollywood" highlights the WWE Superstars, UFC MMA fighters, WCW pro wrestlers, and TNA wrestling stars merging the worlds of sports and entertainment with TV gigs, movie roles and personality plus. "I kind of went into professional wrestling so I could get an avenue into acting," says Kurt Angle, who played an MMA fighter in the 2011 summer film release "Warrior." Aware of the charisma and theatricality required in professional wrestling, Andrew Oye, screenwriter of BATTLE ROYAL (a movie set in the world of pro wrestling), notes, "I wanted to write a feel-good sports movie but stay away from the standard backdrops of traditional sports like football, basketball and baseball."

Andrew Oye's Verdict: With the IFBB Pro League bodybuilding contest season winding down -- after the unseating of IFBB Pro Jay Cutler by the new 2011 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, as well was Open Division competitors prepping for the Arnold Sports Festival's inaugural European IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Madrid, Spain, this weekend -- "Andrew Oye's Pro Muscle Report" and MUSCLE INK Magazine take a moment to highlight athletes making noise in other sports. WWE CEO Vince McMahon built a lucrative business marketing sports and entertainment, and even attempted to blend the two in the physique sports world with his short-lived WBF World Bodybuilding Federation featuring "WBF BodyStars" (which included IFBB Pro League athletes like IFBB Pro Gary Strydom, IFBB Pro Berry DeMey, IFBB Pro Jim Quinn, IFBB Pro Aaron Baker, IFBB Pro Mike Quinn, IFBB Pro Eddie Robinson, IFBB Pro Troy Zuccolotto, and "Incredible Hulk," actor and IFBB Pro Lou Ferrigno, as well as IFBB Pro Tom Platz as Talent Director).
