New Study Links Whey Protein Consumption to Growth Hormone Support

We all know the value in drinking whey protein isolate and fast sugars after exercise, but recent research illustrates that this cocktail may be the ideal "half-time" elixir for boosting growth hormone. Research from the UK has shown that drinking a cocktail containing 0.8 g/kg bodyweight of table sugar mixed with 0.3 g/kg bodyweight of whey protein isolate between repeated exercise performances increases the exercise growth hormone response by almost 65% over taking in carbohydrate drinks alone. This is a great finding for those involved in sports where they compete multiple times in a day, as it suggests that a protein/carbohydrate drink between performances may provide performance benefits or aid in recovery. All in all, this finding may revolutionize the way we think of formulating sports drinks!
