The Item: Contest Results

The Scoop: Just announced: Over the weekend in Florida, IFBB Pro Stan McQuay made a splash with a 1st place finish at the 2009 Jacksonville 202 & Under Pro Bodybuilding Championships, part of the Dexter Jackson Classic. In a pro debut that has been nearly three years in the making, 5'7?, 195-pound McQuay was in shape and decently conditioned – although, not to any superior degree than 2nd place finisher Daryl Gee. A 5'5" mound of rookie-pro muscle, Gee still carried the same sculpted mass that has carried him through three back-to-back contests. Posing phenom and veteran pro Richard "Tricky" Jackson was a well-proportioned 195 lbs., which earned him 3rd place. The Top 3 earned slots at the 2009 Olympia 202 Showdown (9/26).

The "So What?": Although it was McQuay's victory weekend, the real story in bodybuilding circles is the amazing rise of Daryl Gee. In the span of 15 days, he became nationally qualified by winning the LA Championships; then earned his pro card a week later at the NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships; then earned an Olympia qualification a week later in Jacksonville!

Andrew Oye's verdict: To take your time and win your first pro show after three years is nice. To see the start of your dream career happen in two weeks is priceless.
