The Item: Career Updates/Highlights
The Scoop: Just Announced: South African bodybuilder Marius Dohne has been issued an IFBB Pro card by his country. At 5'11" and 250 lbs. with a nipped waist, the 28-year-old phenom has been dubbed the "Sultan of Symmetry" due to his incredible shape on a bona fide " X-frame" structure. "I started training as a means of rehabilitation for a hamstring tear," says Dohne, a personal trainer with a passion for bodybuilding. "I'm highly self-motivated. When I set my mind to something, I am very determined to follow through."
The "So What?": Currently, the physique star is the only IFBB professional bodybuilder born in and residing in South Africa. Competing for over a decade, Dohne won 1st place as a Super Heavyweight and the Overall title at the 2009 South African National Bodybuilding Championships. He has also competed and placed in NABBA, EFBB, WABBA and SANBA contests.
Andrew Oye's verdict: Being his country's only pro may be a lot of pressure to put on a young athlete's shoulders. But one look at Dhone's cannonball delts shows he can probably handle it.
