ANDREW OYE'S image The Item: Contest Results, New IFBB Pro League Cards, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, new IFBB Pro Robert Burneika was named the Overall title winner at the NPC National Bodybuilding Championships, dubbed "Hotlanta Posedown" in Atlanta, GA. Standing 5'9" and competing at about 253 lbs., Burneika brought a big back and powerfully built legs to outshine his fellow competitors, winning the Super Heavyweight Class and status as a new IFBB Pro League athlete. Joining Burneika, the top athletes in each weight class were also awarded IFBB pro cards.

New IFBB Pro Fred Smalls used a flaring lats to fly to the top of the Heavyweight Class. The Light-Heavyweight winner, new IFBB Pro Branden Ray, looked complete with a chiseled mid-section. Ripped new IFBB Pro Roger Ferrer won the Middleweight Class, which consistently finds 1st place finishers with incredible conditioning at Nationals. A Pennsylvania orthopaedic surgeon, new IFBB Pro Victor Prisk was victorious in the Welterweight Class. A conditioned, flowing physique and good stage movement helped new IFBB Pro Leonardo Pacheco take the Lightweight Class (where he finished 9th last year). New IFBB Pro Richard Siegelman took 1st place in the Bantamweight Class.

The "So What?": Massively built like a powerlifter, Robert Burneika was a pre-game favorite because he had finished in the runner-up spot in the Super Heavyweight Class at last year's National Championships, won by IFBB Pro Cedric McMillan. As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," national-level pro-qualifier contests produce the next wave of IFBB Pro League athletes working toward the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships and Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend -- like past Nationals winners 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Lee Haney, 5-time Masters Olympia Champion IFBB Pro Vince Taylor, 2-time Arnold Classic winner IFBB Pro Kevin Levrone, IFBB Pro Mike Francois, IFBB Pro Paul Demayo, IFBB Pro Aaron Maddron, and two athletes who competed in WWE's Vince McMahon's WBF World Bodybuilding Federation -- IFBB Pro Troy Zuccolotto and IFBB Pro Gary Strydom.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Robert Burneika's road to the pros is interesting. He had made an attempt at a pro card at the NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships in July, but he placed 4th behind winner IFBB Pro Jason Huh; whereas, in 2009, Burneika placed 3rd and Huh placed 5th at the USA Championships (won by IFBB Pro Grigori Atoyan). The Lithuania native once worked out in a makeshift home-gym. "I learned how to work hard from my father who I always helped out in his auto body shop. I worked with him and realized that this is not the life that I wanted for myself," says Burneika. "As a child, watching Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movies, made me be fascinated with the idea of becoming a bodybuilder." So the kid who used to admire a 7-time Mr. Olympia champion from afar now trains at a decked-out gym in Las Vegas, the current home of reigning 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler.
