The Item: Contest Results/New IFBB Pro League Cards
The Scoop: Just announced: Over the weekend, Steve Kuclo won the Super-Heavyweight Class and the Overall Mr. USA Title at the 2011 NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships in Las Vegas. Kuclo earned his IFBB Pro card. Also earning pro status: Heavyweight Class winner Jonathan Delarosa, Light-Heavyweight Class winner Tamer El Guindy, and Middleweight Class winner Luis Santa.
The "So What?": As reported in Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report last year, the National Physique Committee upped the amount of IFFB Pro League cards issued in the Men's Bodybuilding Division to 4 cards, beginning in 2010 (which was won by IFBB Pro Jason Huh). Most of the 2011 winners bumped up on the ladder. Steve Kuclo, a firefighter with the Dallas Fire Department, finished in 6th place in the Super-Heavies at the 2010 USA Championships, where Jon Delarosa placed 2nd in the Heavies and Luis Santa placed 1st in the Welterweights (a class that does not earn a pro card).
Andrew Oye's Verdict: There is word that new IFBB Pro Steve Kuclo might jump right into the pro contest season and compete in his Texas backyard at the Dallas Europa Supershow in two weeks (August 13). It is rare (though not impossible) for a rookie pro to make a humongous splash in his professional debit so soon after entering the pro ranks.
