The Item: Contest Results, New IFBB Pro League Cards
The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, the 2011 Masters National Bodybuilding Championships awarded a fresh crop of athletes with IFBB Pro League cards. The roster in Pittsburgh was topped by Timmy Gaillard, winner of the Heavyweight Class and the Overall 40+ title. Also earning new professional status were class/age-group winners Willie Vegas (Masters Middleweight 40+), Lance Johnson (Masters Light-Heavyweight 50+) and Mike Ferguson (Masters Heavyweight 60+)
The "So What?": At 5'9" and about 230 lbs., Gaillard is a personal fitness trainer residing in Mississippi. Before number 1 was his lucky number, Gaillard was stuck on the number 4, landing in 4th place at his two previous contests - the 2011 Junior National Bodybuilding Championships and the 2009 Masters National Bodybuilding Championships.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: New IFBB Pro Timmy Gaillard now joins recent Masters Nationals winners like IFBB Pro Andy Haman (2007), IFBB Pro Vinny Galanti (2008), IFBB Pro Stan Efferding (2009), and IFBB Pro Jerome Ferguson (2010) in trying to prove athletes who earn pro cards at 40+ in this contest can make significant waves on the pro circuit.
