ANDREW OYE'S image The Item: Contest Results, New IFBB Pro League Cards, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, Juan Morel won the Super-Heavyweight Class and the Overall title at the 2011 IFBB North American Bodybuilding Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. In turn, Morel earned an IFBB Pro card and qualification to compete in the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness at the professional level, along with Heavyweight Class Winner Kenneth Jackson and Overall 40+ Masters Winner Sean Allan.

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," similar to last year's winner IFBB Pro Lee Banks, Juan Morel came back from a 2nd place finish in the previous year to win the North American Championships. In 2010, Morel was the runner-up in the Heavyweight Class; however, winning in 2011 as a Super-Heavyweight, breaks the streak of Heavyweight Class winners claiming the North American Overall title for four consecutive years (including IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden in 2009, IFBB Pro Marc Lavoie in 2008, and IFBB Pro Erik Fankhouser in 2007). At another pro card attempt last year, Morel had placed 2nd to Heavyweight Class winner IFBB Pro Fred Smalls at the 2010 NPC National Bodybuilding Championships (where Super-Heavyweight IFBB Pro Robert Burneika won the Overall title).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: New IFBB Pro Juan Morel and new IFBB Pro Kenneth Jackson possess good physique structures to enter the world of professional bodybuilding. Although, what it takes to stay in the game sometimes tests whether athletes get better at the next level than where they start at this current level. Two paths they might want to emulate are that of IFBB Pro Frank Zane -- who won the 1966 IFBB North American Bodybuilding Championships and went to become a 3-time winner of the Mr. Olympia Championships (1977-1979) -- or that of IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson -- who won the North American title in 1998 and went on to win a Mr. Olympia Sandow trophy at the 2008 Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend, as well as three editions of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (2005, 2006, 2008).
