The Item: IFBB Pro League Legends Update, Bodybuilding Industry News
The Scoop: Just Reported: Over the weekend, in his native Thal, Austria, actor, 7-time Mr. Olympia and IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger unveiled a 9-foot bronzed statue carved in his likeness. The statue immortalizes the bodybuilding legend and stands guard at his recently opened museum.
In an inspirational speech, Schwarzenegger told attendees: "My personal success has less to do with millions of dollars or with the headlines in the media that are not always positive and also not with being clapped on the shoulder by Barack Obama and other world names. Personal success is the result of determination, hard work and stubbornness."
The "So What?": As "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" column and MUSCLE INK Magazine reported in February, Schwarzenegger gave final approval on the statue by an artist also working on a statue of Schwarzenegger as governor. In addition to tracking the former governor's return to Hollywood movies, in August, Oye reported that Schwarzenegger's former, childhood home had been converted to a museum honoring the stages of his career in sports, politics and entertainment - featuring his old barbell, governor's desk and "Terminator" memorabilia. "For me, this is not only a museum," Schwarzenegger said. "It is also a symbol of will...Everyone has a chance."
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Arnold Schwarzenegger traveled from Austria to Madrid, Spain, to crown the first champion of the inaugural Arnold Classic Europe - a new companion to the annual Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, OH. The weekend's events were highlights in a bumpy year of highs and lows for Schwarzenegger.
