The Item: Career Updates/Contest Preparation
The Scoop: Recently Announced: IFBB Pro Mark Sheridan is in Oxford, England, preparing for a comeback to the competitive stage at the 2010 IFBB New York Pro Bodybuilding Championships (May 8). The word is the British powerhouse has been to Former Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates' Temple Gym, and Yates has given Sheridan's pre-show physique a nod of approval.
The "So What?": Sheridan obtained his pro card in 1999. He made his pro debut at the 2001 Hungarian Grand Prix, and eventually competed in the 2005 Mr. Olympia contest. Back from a hiatus, the 5' 5 and 1/2", 39-year-old makes his first appearance in the 202 Division at the New York Pro this week. A trainer and gym owner who has also participated in rugby, white water canoeing and judo, Sheridan says his training philosophy of heavy, intense, brief workouts is motivated by "madness and insanity."
Andrew Oye's verdict: The reemergence of Sheridan's grainy, dense musculature should be an interesting addition to the mix of other 202 mass beasts like Charles Dixon, etc.
