The Item: Career Updates, DVD Release
The Scoop: Just Announced: This month, IFBB Pro Mark Dugdale releases his latest DVD titled "Legacy: What Will Your Story Be?" The film's promo material states: "After fourteen years of marriage, seeing his daughters racing towards young womanhood, and with seven years competing as an IFBB professional bodybuilder already in the rearview mirror, Mark Dugdale considers his legacy - in bodybuilding and in life."
The "So What?": In the documentary, Dugdale travels across the U.S. to get varying perspectives on the notion of a "legacy" from competitive bodybuilders, fitness industry professionals and others, cranking out tough training sessions along the way. The project includes guest appearances by Joe Weider, IFBB Pro Phil Heath, IFBB Pro Branch Warren, IFBB Pro Victor Martinez, IFBB Pro Evan Centopani and more.
As for his own legacy, Dugdale says he might retire from the competitive stage after five years, "but I hope to remain connected to the sport, maybe as a [contest] judge or helping other guys in their preparation for competitions, something of that nature."
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Mark Dugdale's 2010 release "Mark is Numero 202" covered his journey to the 202 Showdown at the 2009 Olympia and featured 6-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dorian Yates. Ironically, Dugdale competed in the Open Class at the 2011 Tampa Pro Bodybuilding Championships last month, where he finished in 4th place, one spot away from a 2011 Olympia qualification. Some people feel an athlete like Dugdale will benefit when the 202 Division becomes the 212 Division in 2012, allowing him to retain mass he sacrifices when dieting down to 202 lbs.
