ANDREW OYE'S image The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Jose Raymond was awarded 1st place in the 202 Division at the 2011 New York Pro Bodybuilding Championships. Raymond's grainy conditioning pushed him over the edge in a close race with 2nd place finisher IFBB Pro Flex Lewis. In his pro debut, IFBB Pro Marvin Ward finished in the 3rd place spot. IFBB Pro Parenthesis Devers took 4th place, and IFBB Pro Jason Joseph claimed 5th place.

The remaining field: IFBB Pro Luc Molines (6th), IFBB Pro Raul Carrasco-Jimenez (7th), IFBB Pro Vinny Galanti (8th), IFBB Pro Robert Belisle (9th), IFBB Pro John Frederick Arendsz (10th), IFBB Pro Mirka Petrovski (11th), IFBB Pro Cvetko Stojmenovski (12th), IFBB Pro Ivory Turner III (13th), IFBB Pro Ken Jones (14th), followed by IFBB Pro Pierre Chamoun and IFBB Pro Mboya Edwards.

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the Top 3 IFBB Pro League athletes in the 202 Division at the New York Pro Bodybuilding Championships earn Olympia qualifications to challenge Olympia 202 Showdown Champion IFBB Pro Kevin English at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas (September 16). This was Raymond's first bodybuilding competition of the 2011 contest season. Earlier this year, Raymond's focus was on powerlifting when he competed in the Pound-4-Pound Challenge with IFBB Pro Derik Farnsworth and IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski at the inaugural IFBB FLEX Pro Bodybuilding Championships (won by IFBB Pro Evan Centopani) in Santa Monica, California.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: With many 202 Division competitors like Jose Raymond contemplating a move to the Open Division, and athletes like injured IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa absent from the contest season, many eyes are watching to see who will be crowned the League's final Olympia 202 Showdown Champion. As I reported recently, after the 2011 Olympia, the 202 and Under Division will officially become the 212 and Under Division. Several lightweight competitors have said that a jump to the heavyweight class is motivated by higher prize offerings at contests like the Olympia Championships, more opportunities to compete on the Olympia-qualifying contest circuit, and possible invitations to prestigious events like the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (won this year by IFBB Pro Branch Warren).
