The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results

The Scoop: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Jamal Elmadawy won the 212 Division at the 2012 Chicago Pro Bodybuilding Championships. Powerlifter and IFBB Pro Derik Farnsworth was awarded 2nd place. IFBB Pro Ahmad Ahmad was ranked in 3rd place. IFBB Pro Antonio Vidal took 4th place, and IFBB Pro Bola Ojex landed in 5th place.

The "So What?": This was Chicago's first pro bodybuilding contest in about 18 years (since the 1994 Chicago Pro Invitational). The IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4 Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to eligibility to compete at the 2012 Olympia 212 Showdown (September 29) in Las Vegas. The was Jamal Elmadawy first pro contest win since earning his pro card after Arnold Schwarzenegger's 2010 Arnold Amateur Bodybuilding Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Since the Illinois contest hosted a 212 Division, it looks like competing in Chicago was a wise move for Elmadawy, who opted to compete in the previous weekend's Open Division contest in Hartford, Connecticut, where he had finished in 6th place.
