The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results
The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Evan Centopani emerged as the winner of the 2011 IFBB FLEX Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Santa Monica, CA. At the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Centopani was well conditioned and managed to edge out his competition, which included 2008 Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson, who was awarded with 2nd place. Finishing in 3rd place was a chiseled IFBB Pro Fouad Abiad. Rounding out the Top 5 in the field of 18 competitors were IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf in 4th place and big-wheeled IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski landing in 5th place.
The "So What?": This event marks Centopani's second professional bodybuilding contest and his second first-place victory. Now touting a two-for-two record, Centopani had also won his pro-debut competition, the 2009 New York Po Bodybuilding Championships. The Top 3 athletes at the first-ever FLEX Pro qualify to compete at the 2011 Olympia (September 16).
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Congrats to Centopani for setting the stage for a remarkable start to a pro career. Though I don't think Jackson was "off" enough for less-seasoned competitors to surge ahead of an Olympia winner with one of the best mid-sections and overall shapes in the biz, the rookie pro had enough edge on his cuts to edge out the "The Blade" in the eyes of the contest judges.
