The Item: Career Updates, Injury Updates
The Scoop: Just announced: IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa De Silva announces he will not compete during the 2011 IFBB Pro League contest season due to a triceps tendon injury.
The "So What?": Back in January 2011, I reported in my column Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report that the Brazilian bodybuilder was adding additional mass to move from the 202 Division to the Open Division this year. Correa placed 3rd at the Olympia 202 Showdown in 2009 and 2010, behind competitors who have also competed in the Olympia Open Class at various times (IFBB Pro Kevin English and IFBB Pro David Henry).
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Ironically, I reported in April 2010 that fellow 202 Class competitor IFBB Pro James "Flex" Lewis would sit out the 2010 season, then Lewis returned to a surprising 3rd place finish in the Open Class at the 2011 Mr. Europe. So, perhaps the yearlong hiatus will help Eduardo Correa's Open-Division aspirations. The difference in this case? Correa has injured a physical trait he's known for - impressive triceps.
