The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results
The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Curtis Bryant won 1st place at the 2012 IFBB North Carolina Pro Bodybuilding Championships, hosted by former Mr. Universe and IFBB Pro Quincy Roberts. IFBB Pro Tricky Jackson was the 2nd place finisher. Taking 3rd place was IFBB Guy Cisternino. IFBB Pro Raul Carrasco Jimenez finished in 4th place, and IFBB Pro Oliver Adzievski grabbed 5th place.
The "So What?": The IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 4 Points, 3rd - 3 Points, 4th - 2 Points, 5th - 1 Point) applies to eligibility to compete at the 2012 Olympia 212 Showdown (September 29) in Las Vegas to face reigning Showdown champion IFBB Pro Kevin English. IFBB Pro Quincy Winklaar, who had not appeared on the original competitors list, showed up and landed in 11th place; whereas, IFBB Pro Roxio Tapia, who had been on the contestants list, was a no-show at this contest (which was won last year by IFBB Pro Vaughan Ettienne).
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Curtis Bryant surprised everyone who assumed the North Carolina Pro Championships would be a race between Tricky Jackson and Gaetano (Guy) Cisternino. I say, good for Bryant. I had mentioned in the last installment of "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" that athletes like Raul Carrasco Jimenez, and now Bryant, need to make noise in the 212 Division, especially now that IFBB Pro David Henry is back on the scene.
