ANDREW OYE'S image The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Cedric McMillan made a mighty leap to the top of the pack, bringing a winning physique and taking 1st place in the Open Division at the 2012 New York Pro Bodybuilding Championships, held at the Tribeca Performing Arts Theater. Powerlifter and IFBB Pro Johnnie Jackson was awarded with 2nd place. The remaining athletes within the Top 5 made pro debuts, including IFBB Pro Steve Kuclo in 3rd place, IFBB Pro Juan Morel in 4th place, and IFBB Pro Jon Delrosa in 5th place.

The remaining field: IFBB Pro Vaughan E. (6th), IFBB Pro Tomas Bures (7th), IFBB Pro Mohammed Touri (8th), IFBB Pro Jeff Long (9th), IFBB Pro Sean Allan (10th), and IFBB Pro Wendell Floyd (11th).

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 5 Points, 3rd - 4 Points, 4th - 3 Points, 5th - 2 Points) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend (September 29) in Las Vegas against reigning Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath. The New York Pro is a Tier 3 contest, i.e., one of few to award IFBB Pro League athletes more points per placing than Tier 4 contests. This marked Cedric McMillan's second victory of his professional bodybuilding career, since winning the 2011 Europa Orlando Pro Bodybuilding Championships and since earning his IFBB Pro card at the 2009 NPC National Bodybuilding Championships.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: As I previously noted, US Army Leadership Instructor Cedric McMillan needed this victory at the New York Pro Championships to redeem himself from last year's 11th place finish in New York behind rookies like IFBB Pro Robert Burneika and IFBB Pro Jason Huh. Meanwhile, Johnnie Jackson (winner of the 2009 "World's Strongest Bodybuilder" Powerlifting Challenge) has been on an up-and-down roller coaster, finishing 7th at the Arnold Sports Festival's 2011 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (won by his buddy IFBB Pro Branch Warren), then 2nd at the 2011 Australian Pro Grand Prix (won by IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf), then 13th at the 2011 Olympia Weekend (where Phil Heath defeated 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler), then 1st at the 2012 FIBO Power in Germany. Time will tell whether the rest of 2012 yields greater consistency for both McMillan and Jackson.
