The Item: Supplement Sponsorships

The Scoop: Just Announced: Across the globe, IFBB Pro League athletes are entering and exiting sponsorship contacts in the "revolving door" of sports nutrition company deals.. IFBB Pro Ronny Rockel parts ways with Germany-based BBN on July 1, 2011, following three years of sponsored-athlete endorsement. Just days ago, IFBB Pro Jose Raymond signed with MHP.

The "So What?": Thus far, Ronny Rockel has had a commendable 2011 contest season, finishing in the Top 6 at five shows, including the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic (6th), British Grand Prix (4th), Mr. Europe Grand Prix (1st), FIBO Power (2nd), and New York Pro (2nd). Competing (as a professional and amateur bodybuilder) for a total of 19 years, Jose Raymond recently won the 202 Class at the New York Pro and had two pro contest wins in 2010 (in Hartford and Tampa).

Andrew Oye's Verdict: With the Olympia approaching in September, it is rare for a top-tier competitor to be preparing for the biggest show of the year without a sports nutrition sponsor; however, Ronny Rockel has the kind of physique that will/should be quickly snapped up by another company.
