ANDREW OYE'S IFBB PRO ATHLETES ROUNDUP: LEGENDARY MR. OLYMPIA RONNIE COLEMAN, IFBB PRO KEVIN ENGLISH AND IFBB PRO JOSE RAYMOND. PLUS, MR. OLYMPIA JAY CUTLER ON THE VERGE OF RETIREMENT?

The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events across North America this month. The latest "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" Pro Athletes Roundup includes two long-term rivals from the Olympia stage and a long-term Olympia Showdown winner.

The "So What?": Over the weekend, Canadian fans met legendary 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman, who appeared at the 2011 Muscle Beach Fall Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Edmonton, Alberta (October 29). Along with IFBB Pro Kevin English, who earned his third consecutive Olympia 202 Showdown title last month, and "Boston Mass" IFBB Pro Jose Raymond, 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler guest-posed at the 2011 NPC New England Bodybuilding Championships in Boston, Massachusetts.

At the 2011 NPC Western Michigan Bodybuilding Championships (October 22), featured guest Jay Cutler, who had also guest-posed at the 2011 Swiss Bodybuilding Championships in Basel, Switzerland, the previous weekend (October 15), addressed his defeat to newly crowned Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath in Las Vegas (September 17). In a speech following his routine Cutler said, "I've been on a hectic travel schedule. I had a very successful year. I finished as runner-up at the Mr. Olympia competition. I was going for my fifth title, but fell short of that. Of course, you're disappointed when you plan to win. It's difficult, because there can only be one winner. But, in the end...I thought about all my victories and my losses -- because I do have six runner-ups at the Mr. Olympia competition -- and every year, it's a learning experience."

Andrew Oye's Verdict: Back in 2008, I reported in that Jay Cutler -- who has won three editions of the Arnold Sports Festival's IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships and who famously battled record-holder Ronnie Coleman from 1999-2005 before defeating him -- had mentioned possibly stopping after winning three or four Olympia Sandow trophies at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend. His speech in Michigan almost sounded like a retirement announcement:

"There are a lot of positive things that sometimes come from not winning. This year, I took a step back after I lost. As I travel to different events, I see how many great fans I have all around the world. I influence these people, not only on the bodybuilding stage but in life, in general, over the 20 years that I've been involved in the sport of bodybuilding. I had a goal. I became the best in the world, and it was a dream. Now I travel with that dream to promote what gave me a great life and a great career," Cutler said.

"I turned 38 this past year. I started when I was 18 years old. I'm not sure what direction next year I will be headed. I'm not sure if I'll go back to the Olympia, or take a step back and focus on the other opportunities that stand before me in life. But one thing's for sure, I will always stand as an ambassador and a champion for bodybuilding."
