The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results
The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Al Auguste won 1st place in the 202 Division at the PBW 2011 Tampa Pro Bodybuilding Championships. Auguste was ripped and ready to ascend to the top of the class. A competitor whose overall shape was just as good as the champ's, IFBB Pro Rixio Tapia claimed the 2nd place slot. IFBB Pro Pierre Chamoun placed 3rd among the group. The Top 3 qualify to compete at the 2011 Olympia 202 Showdown (September 16).
The "So What?": The Tampa Pro was Auguste's pro bodybuilding debut. Auguste earned his pro card by winning the Light-Heavyweight Class at the 2010 NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships. Tapia's runner-up placing is his best showing to date on a pro stage, having placed out of the Top 10 in his pro contests during the 2010 season.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Al Auguste qualifying for an Olympia event during his first time on a pro stage is commendable, though it should be noted that none of the prominent 202 Division competitors (IFBB Pro Kevin English, IFBB Pro David Henry, IFBB Pro Jose Raymond, IFBB Pro Eduardo Correa and IFBB Pro Flex Lewis) were on the roster in Tampa to potentially block his path.
