The Item: Contest Results
The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Hidetada Yamagishi pulled off a victory in the Open Division at the Europa Orlando Pro Show of Champions. The 5'5", 220-pounder had improved his sharpness from last month's Arnold Classic, where he placed 8th. Taking 2nd place and the Best Poser Award was 5'9", 235-pound Marcus Haley, marking the 37-year-old Florida resident's highest placing in his pro career. Russia's Evgeny Mishin was a massive vision at 6'2" and 290 lbs. and landed in 3rd place, which is only his second top-10 placing in a pro show.
The "So What?": The Top 3 finishers all qualify to compete at the 2010 Olympia in September. After a string of second-place finishes at Olympia-qualifying shows,, the 2010 Orlando Pro victory is Yamagishi's first professional win, making him the most celebrated Japanese bodybuilder to date.
Andrew Oye's verdict: The word is Yamagishi is attempting to compete at every show on the calendar leading up to the Olympia. If this is true, he deserves props for an ambitious goal when his slot at The O is already secure.
