DeShaun Grimez Switches Contest Prep Coaches for Phoenix Pro

DeShaun Grimez image The Item: Career Updates/Contest Preparation

The Scoop: Recently Announced: IFBB Pro DeShaun Grimez is preparing for the muscle battle in the Valley of the Sun at the IFBB Phoenix Pro Bodybuilding & Fitness Show in Mesa, Arizona (February 20). Grimez is under the contest-prep tutelage of trainer Chris Aceto, along with IFBB Pros Troy Alves and Tarek Elsetouhi. A backstage meeting at last year's Tampa Pro Show led Elsetouhi to suggest that Aceto work with Grimez. Aceto recalls that Elsetouhi had said, '(DeShaun) is a really decent guy with his head on straight. I think if you helped him he could be good."

The "So What?": Grimez had previously worked with contest-prep coach and IFBB pro George Farah. After initially admitting he was too busy to coach Grimez, Aceto says, "I asked a few people about DeShaun and the response was the same. Everyone said, 'Great guy.' So about 12 weeks out, I emailed him to see if he was still game." For several weeks, Grimez has been doing two hard 45-minute cardio sessions per day, coupled with a hard diet of 8 meals per day, including 15 egg whites, oatmeal, chicken, fish and 350-gram protein shakes, with no "cheat days."

Andrew Oye's verdict: The man nicknamed "The Walking Eclipse" has a physique with a tendency to go up and down over the course of his prep. He'll need to be up in all the right areas to eclipse some of the other competitors in the show.
