The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Toney Freeman won the IFBB Sacramento Pro
Bodybuilding Championships at the Crest Theater in Sac Town. The 6'2", 290-pound "
X-Man" was not at his sharpest, but he brought his shape and a new set of bigger wheels to roll over the rest of the field. Finishing in a close 2nd place was 5'7", 235-pound Craig Richardson, who seemed to bring slightly tighter conditioning and often matched Freeman pose for pose. Robert Piotrkowicz finished in 3rd place. The density of the meaty Polish athlete earned him his spot.
The "So What?": The
Sac Pro was the last pro show for 2009 and the first qualifier for the 2010 Olympia. There was no separate 202 Division, which some of the guys could have used to better their placings.
Andrew Oye's verdict: No one seemed to chop up to 100% conditioning. This is perhaps due to the fact that these hardcore dieters are easing into the holiday season following a long year of competition?
