The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results
The Scoop: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Ed Nunn battled his way to a victory at the 2010 Europa Battle of Champions in Hartford, Connecticut. Nunn was ripped and balanced, which resulted in his 1st place finish in the Open Division. Right behind Nunn was 2nd place finisher Troy Alves, who, at 5'8" and 220 lbs, was just as ripped but seems to be losing some fullness from years past. Following Alves was 5'8", 250-pound Ben White who landed in the 3rd place. A week prior, White had finished in 1st place over Alves at the Tampa Pro. The Top 3 finishers earned qualifications to compete at the Olympia in September.
The "So What?": Nunn earned his IFBB Pro League card at the 2008 NPC Nationals Bodybuilding Championships. The victory in Hartford marks Nunn's first win in an IFBB professional bodybuilding contest.
Andrew Oye's verdict: At 6'1" and about 230 lbs., Nunn joins the X-Frame Club -led by veteran IFBB Pro Toney Freeman - a contingency of new IFBB Pro League athletes rocking big, yet aesthetic, physiques punctuated by tight waistlines. This club includes rookie IFBB Pros Cedric McMillan and Shawn Rhoden. When members of this club start winning Mr. Olympia titles, we'll see a return to the classic physique that launched the sport in its golden days.
