The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Competitors List
The Scoop: Just Announced: Promoters of the Sheru Classic just released the roster of athletes that will compete at the Asian Grand Prix Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Mumbai, India (September 25).
Open Class Competitors:
IFBB Pro Jay Cutler
IFBB Pro Alfonso Del Rio
IFBB Pro Marius Dohne
IFBB Pro Toney Freeman
IFBB Pro Kai Greene
IFBB Pro Phil Heath
IFBB Pro Michael Kefalianos
IFBB Pro Victor Martinez
IFBB Pro Mohammed Touri
IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf
The "So What?": According to the event's promotional material, this event is the first ever IFBB sanctioned professional bodybuilding and figure contest to be held in Asia. The event will occur just one week after the Olympia Weekend, where newly crowned Mr. Olympia Phil Heath defeated 4-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler and field of others in Las Vegas. Typically, post-Olympia events struggle to attract top-tier names, but organizers locked in several Top 10 Olympia finishers several months ago. That roster was to include IFBB Pro Branch Warren, who recovering from a pre-Olympia quadriceps injury.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Many wonder if a contest directly following the Olympia - which supposedly just ranked the world's best pro bodybuilding physiques - can be judged with a "clean slate,"where any competitor can win the show or shuffle the placings. Given this, would it feel less than right if Mr. Olympia Phil Heath didn't also win in Mumbai?
