ANDREW OYE'S image The Item: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup

The Scoop: Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro Jose Raymond rose to the top of the pack at the 2014 IFBB New Zealand Pro Bodybuilding Championships. The sole competitor from the USA took 1st place at the contest in Auckland. IFBB Pro Petr Vanis from the Czech Republic took 2nd place. IFBB Pro Mike Debenham from Australia place 3rd in the competition. A crew of New Zealanders completed the lineup: IFBB Pro Salah Ibrahim in 4th place, IFBB Pro Sam Mohammad in 5th place, IFBB Pro Teina O'Malley in 6th place, and IFBB Pro Joe Ulberg in 7th place.

The "So What?": As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd -- 4 Points, 3rd -- 3 Points, 4th -- 2 Points, 5th -- 1 Point) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas and face reigning Olympia 212 Showdown Champion IFBB Pro James 'Flex' Lewis. IFBB Pro Evan Centopani guest-posed at the Auckland event, which was promoted by IFBB Pro Moe Elmoussawi -- who last competed at the 2010 IFBB Australian Pro Grand Prix, a contest that held its 2014 edition last week. IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden won the recent Australian Pro Grand Prix in Melbourne, where there was no 212 Division contest.

Andrew Oye's Verdict: In New Zealand, a rather grainy IFBB Pro Jose Raymond benefited from the absence of fellow top-tier 212 Division competitors, who seem preoccupied with Open-Division pursuits. Contemplating a jump to the Open Class, IFBB Pro Flex Lewis recently won the Arnold Sports Festival's first-ever 212 contest at the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships (won by IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf) and guest-posed at last week's Aussie Grand Prix, where 2008 Olympia 202/212 Showdown Champ IFBB Pro David Henry competed against Open Class athletes (and rising 212 Class IFBB Pro William Bonac managed to nab 2nd place ahead of big athletes like Centopani and IFBB Pro Branch Warren).
