The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances
The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes made recent guest appearances at various bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" latest roundup includes a slew of Mr. Olympia champions.
The "So What?": Thirty years ago, 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Lee Haney (current cover athlete of MUSCLE INK Magazine Legends Series, which included 7-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger) won the first-ever NPC National Bodybuilding Championship in 1982. Haney was on hand for the crowning of a new champ at the 2012 NPC Nationals in Atlanta this past weekend, along with reigning 2-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath, 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler (turned pro at the 1996 Nationals), and 1-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson.
Also in attendance: Atlanta resident IFBB Pro Toney Freeman (turned pro at the 2002 Nationals), as well as retired athletes IFBB Pro Shawn Ray (turned pro at the 1987 Nationals), IFBB Pro Dennis James, IFBB Pro Bob Cicherillo, and IFBB Pro Chris Cormier.
Meanwhile, 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman, who recently signed IFBB Pro Shawn Rhoden to his sports nutrition company, made recent stops in California, Oregon and Washington on his U.S. tour.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: Nice to see torch-passing moments, especially at an event where 62 new IFBB Pro cards were awarded.
