The Item: Career Updates, Special Appearances
The Scoop: Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" latest roundup includes Boston Mass athletes and record-holding pros.
The "So What?": Four-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler made an appearance at the 2013 NPC Boston Workshop, offering advice to over 100 aspiring competitive fitness, bodybuilding and physique-sport athletes in his home state of Massachusetts. Also spotted at the workshop was hometown kid, 212 Division IFBB Pro Jose Raymond. I recently reported Cutler's confirmation to compete against reigning 2-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath at the 2013 Olympia in Las Vegas. A week ago, Cutler was onstage with all other past Arnold Classic champions for the 25th Anniversary of the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Bodybuilding Championships at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, OH. While retired IFBB Pro Bob Cicherillo spent the weekend emceeing the NPC contest in Culver City, CA, many actively competitive pros were in Melbourne, where 2013 Arnold Classic champ IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson won the IFBB Australian Grand Prix Pro Championships (won by IFBB Pro Branch Warren in 2012).
Andrew Oye's Verdict: In Boston, Jay Cutler was toting a fairly lean off-season 285 pounds, readying for the September battle with Heath and others like Jackson, who, as I reported in my last column, is racking up an increasingly impressive resume. At last check, the record of All-Time IFBB Pro Contest Victories indicates: 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman with 26 wins; IFBB Pro Vince Taylor with 22 wins; IFBB Pro Kevin Levrone with 20 wins; IFBB Pro Dexter Jackson with 18 wins; IFBB Pro Flex Wheeler with 17 wins; and IFBB Pro Jay Cutler with 15 wins.
