My Story: After my husband deployed to Afghanistan March 2010 I decided to get myself back into shape. I had a few small obstacles, a degenerative disease in my spine and a dangerous heart condition which left me unable to do anything on advice of my Doctors. Much begging and negotiating later, I convinced my 2 cardiologists to let me work out in the gym with light weights and high reps and walk 30 mins a day 5 days a week. On April 12th I started out back at the gym and I decided then to compete in my first ever figure competition. But in June I got a call saying I needed to have heart surgery to implant a device THAT WEEK! So I had it done then 6 days later I was back in the gym doing what else after having my chest cut open?? Well CHEST of course! On December 4th I competed in Excalibur, in figure and placed 12th out of 17. I was ecstatic, I didnt go there to win, but to prove I could be healthy and I did it AND made the finals! More than I dreamed of. If I can do it, anyone can!
