ANDREW OYE'S WWE PRO ATHLETE REPORT: WWE CHAMPION DAVID OTUNGA DELIVERS KEYNOTE SPEECH AT HARVARD LAW SPORTS + ENTERTAINMENT SYMPOSIUM

The Scoop: Recently Reported: "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" takes an intermission from my IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup at various sports, bodybuilding, physique and fitness events for a WWE Pro Athletes Roundup in the halls of academia. Alumnus of Harvard University's famed law school and WWE Superstar David Otunga delivers the keynote address at the Harvard Law School Sports and Entertainment Law Symposium this week (February 21). Otunga says he is honored to speak at the event, which also includes panelists from International Management Group (IMG), Sports Illustrated, The Weinstein Company, FunnyorDie.com, and legal counselors for NFL, NBA and Hollywood stars.
The "So What?": A prime example of brawn and brains, David Otunga is a reality TV star (who started on VH1), father, fitness enthusiast and Harvard Law School graduate. The Ivy League iron-lifter signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2010 and went on to win the WWE Tag Team Championship twice (once with John Cena). Otunga appeared as an officer in the 2013 feature film "The Call," alongside Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry. The popular professional wrestler often incorporates his legal expertise into his storylines on WWE Raw, WWE Smackdown and Wrestlemania telecasts.
Andrew Oye's Verdict: David Otunga is a self-described die-hard bodybuilder who idolized 7-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger and befriended 8-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Ronnie Coleman. His physique indicates that, if he wanted to add mass and earn an IFBB Pro card, he could follow the path of IFBB Pro League athletes, work the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series and possibly compete at the Arnold Sports Festival's Arnold Classic Bodybuilding Championships or Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend. (Or, back in the 90's, he could have probably challenged competitors in WWE CEO Vince McMahon's former WBF World Bodybuilding Federation -- for which Hall of Famer IFBB Pro Tom Platz was Director of Talent Development and IFBB Pro Gary Strydom was the champion). But Otunga is happily pursuing his careers as a pro wrestler and movie actor. In fact, with his star on the rise, it might be time to update my MUSCLE INK Magazine article "Headlock on Hollywood," which profiles wrestlers-slash-actors like "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson and Cena, among others.
