ANDREW OYE'S STRONGMAN REPORT: WSM WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN CONTEST SPRINGS FORWARD ON PRO SPORTS TV SCHEDULE

The Scoop: Recently Reported: The World's Strongest Man (WSM) contest, which is usually staged in the Fall season, will "spring forward" and hold its 2014 edition in the Spring season to better position itself on the professional sports TV schedule. CBS Sports will televise the premier international professional strongman contest and requested that WSM producers reschedule the event in order to air the recorded event at a less crowded and competitive time of the year for televised pro sports.
The "So What?": Instead of airing the world's main strength competition during the holiday season on the ESPN Network in the U.S. television market as reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" in previous years, for the second consecutive year, the 2014 World's Strongest Man competition will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network. Yet, this year, the taped event will air earlier to avoid TV-scheduling conflicts with the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Hockey League (NHL) seasons. The 2014 World's Strongest Man filming schedule of dates follows.
March 22 - Commerce Casino
March 23 - Paramount Studios
March 24 - Commerce Casino
March 25 - Universal City Walk
March 28 - Venice Beach
March 29 - Commerce Casino
Andrew Oye's Verdict: These powerful athletes aim for records like that of MMA fighter and 5-time WSM Mariusz Pudzianowski. "Giants Live" promoters contributed to the selection of the 2014 lineup of the IMG-managed event, which includes veteran athletes and rising names that have or will be making appearances at some of the biggest events like the strongman contest at the Olympia Expo during Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend and the Arnold Strongman Classic at the Arnold Sports Festival (host of the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships). Among the contestants, reigning America's Strongest Man (ASM) and WSM champion Brian Shaw and 7-time Arnold Strongman Classic champion Zydrunas Savickas. Below are the contest events and remaining field of athletes.
