: IFBB Pro League Contest Results, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
Just Announced: Over the weekend, IFBB Pro David Henry successfully defended his 2012 title and was awarded another 1st place win at the 2013 Asian Grand Prix Pro Bodybuilding Championships (a.k.a. Sheru Classic) in Pune, India. IFBB Pro Ahmad Ahmad took the 2nd place spot. IFBB Pro Raul Carrasco-Jimenez grabbed 3rd place. IFBB Pro Jan Kubik landed in 4th place, and IFBB Pro Mirsad Terzo finished in 5th place.
The "So What?":
As reported in "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report," the IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series Point System: (1st automatic qualification, 2nd - 6 Points, 3rd - 5 Points, 4th - 4 Points, 5th - 3 Points) applies to IFBB Pro League athletes' eligibility to compete at the 2014 Olympia Weekend to face reigning 212 Olympia Showdown Champion IFBB Pro James "Flex" Lewis. The Sheru Classic is a Tier 2 contest, i.e., one of few to award more points per placing than Tier 3 and Tier 4 contests. The event did not feature an Open Division contest for IFBB Pro athletes this year.
Andrew Oye's Verdict:
As I reported in 2012, David Henry (202 Olympia Showdown Champion in 2008) returned from his military commitments in time to benefit from the Sheru Classic adding the 212 Division (in addition to the Open Division, won by 2013 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Europe Champion and 3-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath). The latest victory in India comes just a week after Henry's win in his "backyard" at the Europa Games' 2013 IFBB Phoenix Pro Bodybuilding Championships in Arizona, and it caps off the year nicely for the athlete relegated to 2nd place runner-up at the Olympia Weekend, in both 2012 and 2013, behind IFBB Pro Flex Lewis. Also, no other Tier 1 or Tier 2 competitions (like the IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships or Arnold Classic Europe) have added 212 Division contests for IFBB Pro athletes to their lineups yet.
