Career Updates, Special Appearances, Andrew Oye's IFBB Pro Athletes Roundup
Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" latest roundup includes an improved pro and a proven champion.
The "So What?":
Over the weekend, channeling "The Incredible Hulk" (a character formerly portrayed on TV and made popular by "Pumping Iron" star, AAU Mr. America and 2-time Mr. Universe IFBB Pro Lou Ferrigno) in theme, IFBB Pro Roelly Winklaar guest-posed at the Mr. Hercules contest on his home turf of Curacao, Netherlands. Back in the States, 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler had an autograph-signing event at a sports nutrition shop in Bend, Oregon. Powerlifter and IFBB Pro Johnnie Jackson just signed a new sports-nutrition endorsement contract. With sights set on the 2014 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Brasil, IFBB Pro Steve Kuclo posted a clip exploring a technique called "Gene-Tested Training" in the latest installment of his training video series. Based on a gene test, Kuclo tailored his workout with explosive squatting movements to improve muscle-growth results.
Andrew Oye's Verdict:
Quite a few followers of the Olympia Qualification Series consider IFBB Pro Egberton 'Roelly' Winklaar the most-improved IFBB Pro bodybuilder of 2013, citing his 7th place finish at Olympia Weekend (won by 3-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath). Older brother of fellow IFBB Pro Quincy Winklaar, Roelly displayed a denser physique than the one he may have overstressed last year competing in a whopping eight competitions during the 2012 IFBB Pro League contest season, which landed him right behind 6th place 4-time champ IFBB Pro Jay Cutler and right above 8th place rookie-sensation IFBB Pro Mamdouh Elssbiay (a.k.a. "Big Ramy") in 2013. The elder Winklaar placed 12th at the 2012 Olympia.
