Career Updates, Special Appearances, Pro Athletes Roundup
Recently Reported: IFBB Pro League athletes had career updates or made recent guest appearances at various bodybuilding, physique and fitness events. The "Andrew Oye's Pro-Muscle Report" latest roundup includes an Italian inspired by his idol.
The "So What?":
Over the last week, the industry learned of the passing of Italian IFBB Pro Daniele Seccarecci at just 33 years of age (on the same day as old-school IFBB Pro Casey Viator). Only days before, Seccarecci had competed and took 6th place at the Nordic Pro Bodybuilding Championships. He'd also competed at the 2012 IFBB Pro Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Europe (14th place). While debatable, some sources claim Seccarecci held Guinness Book of World Records titles for largest arms (21.65 inches) and heaviest male bodybuilder competition weight (297.62 lbs.).
In breaking news, it was reported that IFBB Pro Evan Centopani suffered a minor pectoral (chest) muscle injury, which, fortunately, will not prevent him from competing at the upcoming Olympia Weekend (September 26-29) in Las Vegas to face reigning Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Phil Heath. Another IFBB Pro Olympia Qualification Series contender, buzzed-about rookie IFBB Pro Mamdouh Elssbiay, a.k.a. "Big Ramy," was just signed to an endorsement deal by a sports nutrition company. The previous weekend, IFBB Pro Stephen Frazier and IFBB Pro Cory Mathews guest-posed at the NPC Central Texas Showdown Bodybuilding Championships in Waco, Texas. Spotted at the big IFBB North American Bodybuilding Championships in Pittsburgh were veteran IFBB Pro Darrem Charles, IFBB Pro Fred Smalls and IFBB Pro Brian Yersky.
Andrew Oye's Verdict:
A fond memory of and for IFBB Pro Daniele Seccarecci is the story about how, simply by inquiring with admiration about the specialty Olympia jacket of 4-time Mr. Olympia IFBB Pro Jay Cutler, the champ removed the garment off his back and autographed it for Seccarecci in a gesture that launched their friendship.
